Road Trip around the mountain & Seal Island

- 16 December 2012 -

Another sunny windless day in Cape Town, South Africa. Windless days don't happen often so we made the best of the beautiful day. My parents took us on a little road trip around Table Mountain and down the coast with amazing views all the way. This is why people fall in love with Cape Town. We stopped off for a beer at the newly renovated bar called "the Bungalow". It’s a must go. After our drink we continued onward toward LLundudno Beach. It’s a small hidden beach which is pretty famous for its surfing waves. We just took a quick look around and got back in the car and drove to Houtbay. When we arrived there we noticed we were just in time to take an hour boat tour to Seal Island. This was something I've always wanted to do but never have so; I jumped at the chance to go. The Seal Islands (3 small islands) are just off the coast. I have never seen as many seals as I had on those islands. It’s incredible. They were everywhere and by the thousand just enjoying the sun. This is also a must see.

Wine Tasting in Stellenbosch, Cape Town

- 15 December 2012 -

We spent the day wine tasting in the beautiful Stellenbosch/ Paarl area. There are hundreds of wine farms all over the place, so you can pick and chose which ones you like. We decided to stop at Fairview for some wine and cheese. Fairview has amazing food. Good place to stop for a Sunday lunch. Our next stop was basically across the road at Simonsvlei. The Wineries close at 4PM so we only had time for one more winery so, we went to Spier for a final tasting. This place has gone through a lot of changes throughout the years and I have to say that its a magical place. They have a restaurant called Moyo which is truly an African experience. The tables are in the trees and wooden hideaway spots all around the place where you can relax and enjoy a drink or some food. We had an ice cold beer and headed homeward for our dinner date.

A day of good food & shopping at the V&A Waterfront

Ostrich Farm & Blouberg Strand, Cape Town

-13 December 2012 -

South Africa is know for their Ostrich Farms. Ostriches are interesting creatures with their eyes being "way" bigger then their brain, and their love for anything shiny. We took a tour around the farm, got to meet and feed the smallest ostrich in the world. We even got to see a tortoise swim, which i never knew they could do. After the Ostrich farm we took a drive to Blouberg strand. Blouberg Strand is beautiful with an amazing view of Table Mountain. It is loved by kite surfers due to it being really windy almost everyday. We played around in the REALLY cold ocean water and stopped at Blue Peter Hotel for a drink.

Table Mountain, Cape Town

- 12 December 2012 -

I had the opportunity to go home for the holiday which I was very excited about. Haven’t been home in over 2 years so it was well overdue. My friend Rachel decided that she was going to join me over in South Africa for two weeks. Its always fun showing new people the beauties of Cape Town.
Our first stop was Table Mountain. Cape Town’s very own pride and joy. Also recently named one of the 7 new wonders of nature. The weather was amazing and the view even better.
